Japanese-born and a graduate of the Royal College of Art, Misa Harada launched her career in 1998 after creating for British Royal Family.

Misa’s esteemed brand is renewed for its hybrid of functionality and ornate elegance. Her main goal is to encourage more people to wear hats on any occasion. Declaring, “a hat is an ultimate tool of self-expression and an item to finish the outfit. My mission is to introduce a taste of couture in hats at an affordable price and encourage more to wear hats”. Providing her signature streetwear hats tweaked with her couture essence.

By 2002, the Misa Harada label was stocked internationally and caught the attention of artists such as Janet Jackson and Britney Spears. Other notable names Misa has designed for include; Jennifer Aniston, The Rolling Stones and the TV series ‘Sex in the City’. Her unique stylization of traditional millinery has been championed by former collaborators Thierry Mugler, Yohji Yamamoto and Bora Aksu.

Misa’s work has been displayed at the V & A’s exhibition ‘Stephen Jones – An Anthology of Hats’ which toured around the world from 2009 till 2011. In 2015, Misa’s retrospective exhibition titled “Hats Off” was held at the Pola Museum of Art in Tokyo.

Misa Harada has seen regular coverage in British and German Vogue, including a bespoke headpiece for top model Cara Delevingne, and has graced the front cover of Tatler, with Cindy Crawford in her signature ‘veiled boater’ style.

Being a founding member of the British Hat Guild, Misa is constantly promoting heritage and craftsmanship through her millinery.

Sustainability is always present throughout Misa’s work. Her ‘Hat for life’ concept, aims to offer the service to repair and restore her hats to all her loyal clients with much focus on sustainability and longevity in mind. Misa enjoys sourcing sustainable, upcycled and multi-purposed fabrics for her collections.Top of FormBottom of Form

Misa Harada supports local production and suppliers in the UK, therefore each hat is made by a small team in her atelier in Cardiff. Today, Misa Harada's collections are sold in over 100 retail outlets across fifteen countries.
